Happy New Year Everyone!
Being that this is a global platform, I decided to do my “Happy New Year” post about 11 hours in advance of 2014 hitting my city. I’m early for some of you, but late for others. Sort of just splitting the difference here.
As you probably know by now, I love shooting around Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA, for short) and so I decided to close the year with a 7-picture set from a recent DTLA photowalk.
The day was December 25, Christmas Day, the streets were mostly deserted by DTLA standards, but people formed pockets of activity here and there. I set out to find as many as I could.
I came to one of my favorite shooting spots in DTLA, Pershing Square. It seemed like that was the liveliest spot in the entire area. Families were out for picnics, letting their kids run free and enjoy the harsh, warm, Winter weather.
Other people were content with sitting at the water’s edge to people-watch and observe the kids at play.
I made my way out of Pershing Square and into the streets. I saw this guy at a corner, lost in his music, which I can only assume was Christmas music. What other kind of music would make him go into a trance-like state that gave me a chance to shoot and re-shoot this image.
I left music-man. Headed down a few streets where I found this guy watching people and 2013 go by at full speed.
Which made me realize that we were almost at the very edge. 2013 and 2014 will soon meet for the first and last time. All we have to do is walk across. Let’s do it!
Happy 2014 to all of you; thank you for your support! It’s been a great adventure, let’s keep it going!
