Looking Up: Ceiling at Starbucks

Reviving the “Looking Up” series. Starbucks in Westwood, California.

Two versions of the same shot. The second is a bit darker and with increased contrast.

  1. Good shot – but if it were me >>> and its not me >>> I’d up the contrast and make it darker. Of course I don’t know what post-capture processing you have access to, inside or outside your phone. Adrian

    • Hey good to see you around here, Adrian. Thank you. I think I see what you’re saying … it could be interesting to play with that. I’ll do that and if I like the results, I’ll post a follow-up image on here. Also, I challenged myself to do everything on my smartphone when I started this blog. I have a few applications that allow varying degrees of post-editing, so I think I should be able to up the contrast and down the brightness fairly easily 🙂

      • Well, challenging yourself is one thing >>> but I think you have good potential, and if this potential is at all restricted by only using your phones’ facilities, that might be a shame.

It will of course drive you to get the very utmost out of your phones and that’s a good thing – but still I think there might be something of a loss.

But >>> we are all different, and we see things in different ways – thank goodness! Whatever you do >>> KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!! Adrian

      • I agree with you. At the moment, I don’t see it as a complete limitation. I think it’s actually challenging me and enabling me to do a couple of things I hadn’t done before: take a shot anytime/anywhere and learn the rudiments of composition and looking for favorable light. But, yes, there’s a whole other world outside of the phone and its facilities which I’m thinking of diving into in due time 🙂 Thank you very much for this feedback. I find it truly inspiring and encouraging!

What do you think? Tell me, pleeease ...
